What's a Treadmill
Desk?
In a few sentences...
A Treadmill Desk is simply a desk and a treadmill
- combined.
Anyone using a treadmill desk would walk slowly on
the treadmill, whilst continuing to work normally at their desk, carrying out tasks at a
PC or on the telephone.
The aim is to combine gentle exercise with
everyday tasks, thereby preventing the bad health which would likely be
a result of a sedentary lifestyle.
At the sort of speeds a treadmill desk runs at,
the normal office tasks should be able to be carried out without any
difficulty.
A treadmill
desk normally operates at 1-2mph - the ideal pace to work
successfully.

Benefits of a Treadmill Desk
A number of studies have shown that prolonged sitting at a desk could be linked to an increased risk of heart
disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and early death.
Doing no activity at all can be as dangerous as
smoking.
It's reckoned that by replacing an office desk with a treadmill
desk for 2-3 hours per day, the average person could lose 20-30kg per year.
Simply walking less than 2mph whilst carrying out your normal
office duties can burn an estimated 100-130 calories/hour.
So it's clear that using a treadmill desk can have massive health
benefits.
